Fuerteventura ⇄ Lanzarote

Corralejo to Playa Blanca ferry

Twenty-five to thirty-five minutes across the Bocaina strait, three competing operators and one rule about rental cars that ruins more day trips than the weather does. This is the crossing that connects both islands in this guide.

Fred Olsen and Armas run their own timetables, and they change with the season and the day of the week. We do not reproduce them here, because a wrong departure time is worse than none: use their own schedule pages, linked at the bottom, or the booking calendar for your date.

The rental-car rule nobody mentions

Two of the three operators carry vehicles, so taking your hire car across looks easy. It usually is not. Most Canary Islands rental agreements do not allow the car to leave the island without written authorisation, and taking it anyway can void the insurance. Some companies permit it for a fee and a form; others refuse outright.

Check your contract before you book a vehicle space. If the answer is no, you have two clean options: cross as a foot passenger and rent again on the other side, or take the ferry-and-coach package that collects you from your hotel.

Why this crossing matters for both islands

This is the link between the two island days in this guide. From Corralejo you reach Isla de Lobos in fifteen minutes; from the Lanzarote side you drive north to Órzola for La Graciosa. People staying in Corralejo or Playa Blanca routinely do both, and the Bocaina crossing is what makes that possible in one trip.

If you are trying to reach Lobos itself from Lanzarote, read the Lanzarote to Lobos guide first: the guided excursion and the do-it-yourself route through Corralejo are not the same thing, and only one of them protects your connection.
