What to do when the Lobos permit is sold out

A full permit calendar does not mean every boat experience is unavailable. First decide whether landing on Lobos matters, then choose the alternative that matches your day.

How full is it really, in peak season

We checked LobosPass directly on the morning of 9 August 2026. The system offered a five-day rolling window, 9 to 13 August. Every bookable date in it — 10, 11, 12 and 13 August — showed Not available for both the 10:00–14:00 and the 14:00–18:00 round.

So in the middle of high season the honest expectation is that the free self-service route shows you nothing at all. That is normal for July to September, not a fault in your booking. Outside those months the same calendar usually has space.

This is a dated snapshot, not a live feed. Check LobosPass yourself before concluding your date is full — and see whether you need to obtain the permit yourself at all, because operators carrying passengers hold their own allocation.

Check the right thing first

  1. Try another date or time slot on LobosPass.
  2. Read the exact ferry option: some tickets can process the authorization, but this does not create extra park capacity.
  3. If you do not need to land, compare a sailing or snorkeling experience around Lobos.
Never assume a tour includes disembarkation. The live booking page must explicitly say that island access or authorization is included.

Landing versus seeing Lobos from the water

The visitor authorization applies when you set foot on the protected island. Fuerteventura's official tourism guidance states that visitors who only snorkel without landing do not need it. A boat tour can therefore remain available when landing permits are gone, but check its route and inclusions before payment.

Which alternative fits

  • Try another ferry date if beaches, the lighthouse or the circular trail are essential.
  • Choose the catamaran for food, drinks and water activities.
  • Choose a small-group speedboat when snorkeling and time on the water matter most; confirm whether its current option lands.
